Vaccination Update

Starting on September 22, everyone entering an arena (other than the players that are under 18 and certain medical exempt patrons) will need to be fully vaccinated. This includes all spectators and parents and includes children that are over 12 that are present as spectators.

To comply, the team trainer/safety officer will review your vaccine dosage receipt and match it against your government-issued ID.  The name and date of birth must match on both documents. Each team will only do this once and keep a ‘checklist’ of who has been verified for all City of Ottawa rinks (other rinks may have their own policies). We encourage teams to start this process immediately with both parents and team staff as the September 22 deadline is only two days away.  If you are bringing any guests (ie: relatives/friends) to the rink, you will need to ensure that they show the safety officer their vaccine dosage receipt and matching government ID as per above to enter the facility. The trainer/safety officer must sign in with the City of Ottawa on their daily vaccination control sheet with their name, phone number and signature to indicate their team is cleared and verified.

Current regulations do not require volunteers, including coaches and officials to show proof of vaccination to enter the arena.

However, the GCGH Board of Directors has voted on a policy – effective September 22nd – that will require ALL current and future coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, board members, and ALL other GCGH volunteers to be vaccinated to hold their position.  The team safety officer/trainer will verify the vaccine of the positions that are related to their respective team (part of the process above) and the GCGH Director of Risk will verify board members and others as needed.  This verification process will start immediately. This new policy is also in line with the other girls association in Ottawa.

Any resistance to these new guidelines/regulations/policies at a GCGH activity or any form of negative comments/behavior to a City of Ottawa employee or GCGH staff, coach, board member or ANY volunteer will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from their team.

If you have any questions regarding vaccination, please email our Risk Director or for any other questions, please let me know.
