Empowering Women in Hockey: East Ottawa Girls Hockey Association's Player 2 Coach Initiative

May. 09, 2025

The East Ottawa Girls Hockey Association (EOGHA) is proud to be leading the charge in advancing opportunities for women in hockey through its groundbreaking Player 2 Coach Initiative. This important program is designed to grow the number of female coaches within our association by encouraging, mentoring, and empowering women to step confidently into leadership roles behind the bench.

Since its inception, the Player 2 Coach Initiative has made remarkable progress in diversifying our coaching staff, offering aspiring female coaches the tools, training, and support they need to succeed. But its impact extends far beyond the rink — by increasing the visibility of women in coaching roles, EOGHA is inspiring the next generation of female athletes, demonstrating that passion for the game can translate into meaningful coaching careers.

Our mission is clear: we want to continue expanding our roster of high-performance female coaches. Whether you're a seasoned player looking to give back to the game that has shaped your life, or someone new who is passionate about mentoring young athletes, there is a place for you with us. Opportunities vary and may include assistant coaching, on-ice assistance, or head coaching roles, depending on your experience and availability.

If you're ready to be part of something transformative and help shape the future of girls' hockey in East Ottawa, we want to hear from you! Join the movement, make a lasting difference, and help empower the next wave of female hockey players.
